The story of the engine tug "Hudson" is all the more the unique, as the seagoing tug left her home port of Maassluis just before the outbreak of World War II only to return in October of the year of liberation.

The "Hudson" is unique: it is the only pre-war seagoing tug still in existence in the Netherlands! All pre-1940 tugs were either scrapped or lost in some other way. The ship of L. Smit & Co's Internationale Sleepdienst has been restored as much as possible to its original state and has been assigned an exclusive museum role.
